Sunday School Sunday school is an important facet of the Church’s life. But it’s not just for the kids! Adults have a great time, too. In the smaller group, friendships are formed and relationships are built. As busy as we all are, when we commit an hour per week for worship and another hour for study on Sunday, it can make such a difference in the rest of our week! But just like everything else we do, it takes a first step! Remember the old saying, “Try it, you’ll like it!?” It really applies to Sunday school. It is a mixture of married couples and singles - from college students to grandparents, mostly with grown or nearly grown children. Our studies are a mixture of Bible studies, social issues, theology, church history and current BCUMC issues and are usually led by class members. We participate in church-wide studies when they are available. We have a weekly social time starting at 9:15am, before our class begins. In the way of Missions, we regularly support the Johnson family, our Wycliffe Bible Translators based in Dallas; the 'Nets Program, providing mosquito netting for those in Africa; and most recently, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, an organization that facilitates Meals-On-Wheels, refugee settlement, disaster preparedness, etc. We also make, decorate and send Christmas to children every year through Samaritan's Purse, as well as participate in Saturday in Service and Medical Bridges. We have fun making the famous Mickey Mouse pancakes when it is our turn to cook the church-wide breakfast, which we do several times each year. We try to squeeze in off-campus social times with gatherings at various members' homes, Men's Night Out and Women's Night Out, throughout the year.
