Welcome to Bear Creek United Methodist Church, Houston TX 77084

Prayer Ministries

Below you will find a numerous ways Bear Creek UMC is actively encouraging prayer along with a number of resources to enable and enhance your prayer life.

Prayer Room

The Prayer Room is available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year and can be found in the Wesley 2 building (across the parking lot from the Family Life Center). We invite you to come meet with God and unleash His power into your life, community, and to the ends of the earth. Within this serene setting there are 12 prayer stations, music, books, comfortable chairs, and a kneeler to enhance your prayer time. Call 281-463-2330 for the access code. After 5pm call 832-755-2954.

Prayer Chain

You are invited to pray for specific concerns and praises that are submitted throughout the week and distributed via email and printed in the Plugging into Christ prayer page bulletin insert; prayer requests are confidentiality maintained at all times. Please contact Terry Bush if you would like to be added to the Prayer Chain. To submit a prayer request you must first obtain permission from the person needing prayer before submitting it on their behalf, then contact the Prayer Chain in one of four ways:

1. Call the church office, 281-463-2330
2. E-mail the church office
3. Call the prayer line and leave a message regarding your concern or praise, 281-463-PRAY
4. Fill out a prayer request form found in your pew pocket, and return it to the office or place it in the offering plate.

Prayer Outreach

Phone calls are made or cards and emails are sent to people listed on the weekly Connecting with Christ prayer page. Please email Janet Terlouw or call 281-345-8026 if you are interested in this specific area of ministry.

Prayer Vigils

Prayer vigils are offered on the church grounds as well as offsite throughout the year to encourage us to focus on and devote time to God (i.e. Good Friday, National Day of Prayer, Global Day of Prayer and others). If desired, prayer guides are provided to enrich your prayer experience. The Labyrinth is often set up for use in prayer. A labyrinth is an ancient prayer tool and is meant to be walked through mentally and spiritually — think of it as prayer walking.

Fast and Pray

Fasting is the most powerful spiritual discipline of all the Christian disciplines. Join Bear Creek United Methodist Church in our churchwide fast (which means to sacrifice by abstaining from something) every 3rd Monday of the month. Through fasting and prayer, the Holy Spirit can transform your life. Use this time to focus your mind on God and His love for you; praise Him and talk to Him. Go to links below or visit the Welcome Center for important information on fasting and prayer.

Prayer Blankets

Prayer blankets are given as a tangible expression of God's power and love to traumatized children (21 and under) who are sick or injured, have a critically ill parent, have experienced the death of a parent, or whose family is in crisis. We do this to remind them that they are being lifted up in prayer and that God is surrounding them with a blanket of love. These blankets are given as gifts and have been blessed with prayers of healing, comfort and peace for the prayer recipients and their family. As in Acts 19:12, we believe God's healing power will go with these blankets to accomplish His healing work. Please let us know if you'd like a prayer blanket for yourself or someone you love by contacting Linda Holmes  at 281-550-3882.
