Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)
Eight women gathered. The number was small, but the need was great. The first MOPS meeting took place in February 1973 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. For two hours, while their children received care, these mothers talked, laughed, ate, passed a basket for childcare expenses, had a craft demonstration and ended with a short devotional. In this humble beginning, the seeds of the MOPS concept and format were planted. Through friendship, creative outlets, and instruction, the women began to understand that “mothering matters.” Today, the same needs for significance are met in much the same way in MOPS groups across the United States and around the world.
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a group of women with children 5 years old and younger, who share a love for their families and enjoy fellowship with other moms going through the same (although very brief) journey in life.
MOPS meets the second and fourth Mondays of every month (during the school year), 9:30-11:30am in the Fellowship Hall, with a great MOPPETS program in the Family Life Center KidZone Nursery. They will meet again for the regularly scheduled meetings when the new school year starts in August!
Are your helping hands available?
Bear Creek UMC Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) asks your assistance to help spread God’s word of salvation to the next generation (MOPPETS) while the group shares God’s word with their mommies. MOPS’ meetings are the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 9:30 to 11:30am in the Fellowship Hall.
Will you consider helping in the toddler room by playing with children 1 to 3 years old, or serving in the newborn to 12-month-old area by rocking and soothing the babies?
