We will offer this early service each week and it is best described by three words: Scripture, Liturgy and Holy Communion. Each week Holy Communion will be the focus of the service. There will be a bulletin with order of worship and we will use the United Methodist Hymnal for our readings and prayers. Worshipers in this intimate service meet in the transept area of the sanctuary. This traditional worship service is perfect for those who are looking for an early start to their Sunday worship.
Our Contemporary Worship moves to the time coincident with our first childrens' Sunday School hour in a strategic move to grow participation in this worship. Youth, families with children, and people who enjoy the music and format of contemporary worship are our primary focus with this service. We hope to increase youth participation in this service, create a one-hour worship experience for families with young children, and continue to offer this service as a place to Connect Hearts to Christ in worship. Several Sunday School classes have adapted and are moving their Sunday School to the 11:00 hour, which is a great use of our space. Our contemporary service, Faith Matters, is an upbeat, active worship service featuring contemporary Christian music and practical messages infused with moments of prayer, Scripture and reflection. We take advantage of worship in the technology age by using all our senses, delighting in God's awesome presence. We're informal, enthusiastic and diverse in age and backgrounds. The Faith Matters Praise Team is made up of instrumentalists including guitars (electric, acoustic and bass), piano, keyboards and drums, vocalists and worship arts (audio, video, drama and dance). Rehearsals are held every Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:30pm in the Sanctuary. individuals interested in any area of the praise team are encouraged to contact Andy Minchew at 281.798.6731 or Roger Clayton to discuss how they might become involved in our team’s ministry.
Our Traditional Worship will simply move back five minutes to 11:00 and will continue to offer vibrant traditional worship to our community. In our 11:00 service we use a variety of musical styles including classical, gospel and traditional offered by choirs, soloists, instrumentalists and the congregation. The service is structured with traditional liturgy including time for prayer, Scripture, sermon, children’s time, communion, music, reflection and occasional personal witnesses. There are opportunities for all ages to praise and worship God.We encourage you to bring children to worship, but if you prefer, nursery is available.
