BC Missions Committee
The BC Missions’ purpose is to provide “hands on” opportunities for our members to reach out and be the hands, heart, and feet of Christ to those in our community that are in need. The committee is responsible for planning two major outreach events: Saturday in Service and the Day of Thanks & Giving. In addition we step up to help when other outreach is needed for our community such as helping with meals during the Hearvey recovery.
BC Missions has established long term relationships with area schools, Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus, Westside Homeless Partnership, Gracewood, and Bless the Children.
The committee meets six times a year on the last Sunday of every other month. We welcome new members. Please contact Brian Weaver at Brian.weaver72@gmail.com if you would like to serve on this very active committee of if you would like to be added to a list to help with individual projects.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
Angel Tree
Angel Tree, a program of Prison Fellowship, reaches out to the children with an incarcerated parent and their families with the love of Christ. This unique program gives BCUMC an opportunity to share our love and God’s love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of these families.
We plan gatherings for these families three times a year. At the Christmas party the children receive gifts that are given to them in the name of their incarcerated parent. Our church also gives each child and their caregiver a filled Christmas stocking. At Easter we sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt and in August at our Backpack Party the children receive backpacks and their needed school supplies. Each of these ends in our Sanctuary with a special devotional message.
We usually have between 75 and 100 children and their families attending each of these events. Some of our children have been with us for years and we so enjoy the long term relationships we have developed with these families. Over the years these children have learned not only are they loved by God, but also by their friends at BCUMC.
Angel Tree works very closely with the Family Missions Committee. Please contact Betsy Ayers at bp.ayers@att.netif you would like to help with this very rewarding outreach.
Safe Sanctuary Training is required to attend the gatherings when the children are present.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_id=”Women”][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]

Women’s Bible Study
Their actions stood out to the writers of Scripture, even though society overlooked their contributions. In Ten Women of the Bible, a 10-session workbook, Max Lucado tells the stories of 10 pivotal biblical women, including Sarah, Rahab, Abigail, Esther, Sapphira, Mary Magdalene, and others. Each session features insights and study questions that explore their lives – and help you apply the lessons to yours.
Meets in FLC 102 from 5:00 to 6:30pm on Sunday evenings through March 11, 2018.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Fellowship Friday
Fellowship Friday, an Energizers outreach ministry, provides a loving, welcoming and fun environment for family members with mild to moderate memory loss who do not require skilled care. This program, a partnership between Interfaith CarePartners and BCUMC, is designed to give caregivers some much needed time away.
Meetings are held on the second Friday of each month in the Worship Center. No special training is required. All you need is the desire to show Christ’s love to our guests. If you would like to help enrich the lives of our guests or would like more information about this program, please contact Dot McLaren at 281-758-5019.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
