Vacation Bible Summer!
We’ve reimagined VBS (Vacation Bible Summer) and we couldn’t be more excited! As always, it will be filled with games, creativity, science experiments, dress-up “spirit” days, and stories about our awesome God – but this year we’re stretching the fun across five weeks on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings beginning Sunday, July 9.
Our goal is to make VBS more accessible to our community and church members, accommodating a variety of schedules and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate.
It’s never too late to register!
Registration for Vacation Bible Summer is free and you can register here. Please make sure to register your children to help us plan for supplies and snacks.

Sundays mornings (10:15-12:15) and Wednesday evenings (6:30-8:00) from July 9 – August 9. If you know of any days your child will not be at VBS, please let us know! We understand that summer plans may interfere with your child being able to participate in all activities, but we highly encourage them to attend all the days and times!
Shannon McGee will also send out a form each week asking about attendance and when your child plans on attending. If you are not receiving that email please contact the church office.
Check in will be at 10:15 on Sundays in the Sanctuary, and 6:30 on Wednesdays in the Sanctuary. Your child will receive a wristband with a number assigned to it. You will get a tag with the same number – this tag is required to pick up, but it is small, so we recommend taking a picture of it because it is easy to lose. You can also send the picture to someone else if you will not be the person picking up – that tag or a picture of it is required to pick up!
Dismissal is promptly at 12:15 on Sundays, and 8:00 pm on Wednesdays. Please come to the doors in the Family Life Center (FLC)/Gym double doors to pick your child(ren) up. Someone will check to make sure you have a tag, or picture of a tag, to enter the FLC/Gym.
Snacks: We are providing a light snack on Sundays and Wednesdays. Please make sure your child(ren) have completed their breakfast/dinner prior to checking in each day.
Water bottles: It will be HOT! Please send your child with a water bottle with their name on it.
We are having spirit dress up days each day of VBS! Kids and volunteers are encouraged to dress according to the theme, but comfortably! Please keep in mind that on Wednesday evenings, kids will be outside or in the gym for about 20 minutes.
Here are the themes:
- Wednesday, July 12 – Space (astronauts, aliens, planets, Astros, etc.)
- Sunday, July 16 – Tourists
- Wednesday, July 19 – Tropical/Hawaiian
- Sunday, July 23 – Beach Party (please have enough clothing on that it looks like clothes, not just swimsuits. Also, they won’t be getting wet so swim suits aren’t needed. Just a theme!)
- Wednesday, July 26 – Matching/Twins/Goes Together
- Sunday, July 30 – Super Heroes
- Wednesday, Aug. 2 – Pirates & Mermaids (no weapons please!)
- Sunday, Aug. 6 – Favorite BCUMC Leader
- Wed., Aug 9 – Crazy Hair
We will be supporting the MESA food pantry throughout VBS. Canned meats, instant potatoes, macaroni & cheese, spaghetti, rice, dried beans (1-2 lbs bags), canned spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, tomato paste, canned soups, boxed cereals, oatmeal, breakfast or snack bars, peanut butter, grape or strawberry jelly, canned fruits, applesauce, canned vegetables, & canned beans are all accepted & appreciated!

Absolutely! Come join the fun as often as you can!
We will be implementing a traditional VBS style of FUN to our BC Kids Sunday mornings and Wednesday evening for 5 weeks! This allows us to reach our community and members who haven’t been able to participate in VBS before due to conflicts, such as work schedules. Expect crafts, recreational games, science experiments, dress up “spirit” days, themed snacks, and great music to help enrich children and learn about our Heavenly Father.
